Snorkelling or diving two miles of reef on Bazaruto archipelago
” One of the best snorkeling places in East Africa, the Two Mile Reef, offers an opportunity to admire diverse marine animal life and breathtaking underwater views. See schools of reef fish swimming in the fields of staghorn coral, as well as honeycomb moray eels hunting for prey in the crevices. If you’re lucky, you may also spot the occasional hawksbill turtle swimming casually past. Visit in August for the chance to see humpback whales playing in the ocean.”

Visit African parks Bazaruto

The Bazaruto Archipelago National Park is the first marine reserve to fall under African Parks’ management. In 2017, the National Administration of Conservation Areas (ANAC) invited African Parks to manage its oldest national marine park, allowing us to protect this gem in the Indian Ocean. Declared a protected area in 1971, Bazaruto is made up of five islands, three of which are inhabited by 5,000 people. The archipelago boasts iconic megafauna, including whales, sharks, sailfish, manta rays, dolphins, marlins and nesting marine turtles, as well as the region’s last viable population of dugong.

A great way of seeing this park is via a dhow Safari, which can be arranged through
